The first two steps in developing a brief were:
- background info
- listing study
The importance of background in a research process was discussed.
We discussed various methodologies for conducting a research like:
- Central Location Test
- Sequential Monadic
- Panel formation

ReplyDeleteCentral Location Test
ReplyDeleteSurvey research in which respondents are invited with or without prior notice to some place (often a public hall or empty shop) where research may be more conveniently carried out. This is often so when respondents are to be asked to try products (see PRODUCT TEST) requiring preparation, or be exposed to advertising films.
Sequential Monadic
In this design, a respondent is given a sample of one product to taste, usually in a central location setting, and asked to evaluate it against his or her own standards; essentially a monadic evaluation. A second product is then produced and the person is asked to taste and compare it to the first sample. The evaluation is framed as a direct comparison between the two products. Thus a single interview is used to produce both a monadic evaluation as well as a paired comparison. To equalize the bias of presentation order, they are rotated from person to person for monadic evaluation. This technique is useful when several formulas are being tested for a single product.
Good Panel formation is an important step in testing of respondents biasness for research. Panel selection and evaluation is depend on Basic - age, education, ethnic background, income, occupation, Financial status, Technical(product awareness), etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Shilpi for re-designing the blog. Now the look and feel of this blog is more attractive.
ReplyDeleteI have some little things to share. It is about the brief of the 22nd July Class which Shilpi had posted.
She has written that there are 'various methodologies for conducting a research'...
The first thing I feel that should be specified is here we are talking about 'Commercial' research. and the second thing is about the steps she has mentioned like Central Location Test, Sequential Monadic, Panel Formation and Selection of Banner etc.
She has written these are the 'various methodologies'. But I feel that these are not various different methodologies, rather they are the consequent steps followed in a single methodology.
I don't know what exactly is the name of this methodology where these steps are followed sequentially.
I invite other peoples' opinion on it.
Happy Blogging! :)
